Salih Island (Karyanda?) Harbor Ruins

On an island off Güvercinlik, Hellenistic fortification walls and traces of Byzantine-era harbor structures.

Salih Island lies in the Güvercinlik Gulf, positioned opposite the coast along the Muğla-Bodrum road. Associated with the ancient city of Karyanda, the island's northern shore preserves a Hellenistic defensive wall roughly 10 meters high, harbor structures, and Byzantine-period column drums, capitals, and ceramic fragments. Scholars note that Karyanda later relocated to the Gölköy area, leaving little significant remains at either the island or Gölköy itself. Consequently, the island's identification with Karyanda remains uncertain and is discussed with caution by academics.
