Eski Karakaya is a historic stone village nestled at the foot of Peksimet Mountain, some 350 meters above sea level. Historical sources trace the village's roots back centuries; its elevated, rocky position was strategically chosen during the Ottoman era to protect against pirate raids. Many of the two- to three-story stone houses have been restored, while others remain in ruins. The village is also home to a small mosque nearly 300 years old. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views across the Aegean Sea, the Greek islands, and down to Gümüşlük.
